5 Simple Fitness Rules for a Healthier Life
Benefits of Getting Fit
There are so many reasons to invest in your physical health. Your goal may be different than the person next to you, but these same rules will work for almost anyone! Take a look at these benefits of physical fitness and determine your why:
Strengthens not only your muscles, but your bones and heart too.
Allows you to keep up with kids or other more energetic people.

Helps you feel like anything is possible with your hard work.
5 Physical Fitness Rules to Follow
Rule One: Start small.
No matter the change you hope to make, always start small. It’s SO easy to get really motivated when you see that end goal in sight and make HUGE plans to get there. The big goals are great, but starting there isn’t always the most effective way of improving your health.
The first few days you’ll be committed, and then after you miss one day, your whole plan could fall apart. Then, you're back to doing nothing. Instead, start small and build as you gain consistency and success. This is the best way to be more productive long-term!
Rule Two: Never punish yourself with exercise.
It’s so easy to make exercise a punishment. Whether you don’t like what you see in the mirror or you're ashamed of an unhealthy meal, never let the pessimistic self-talk swirl in your mind and never punish yourself with exercise.
This negative relationship between food and your actions could have you swinging back and forth between indulging and punishing, which isn’t good for any part of your biology or psychology! Make exercise a reward, instead. Remind yourself what you’re doing for your body and think of it more like a spa treatment!
Rule Three: Incorporate multiple modes of exercise.
When you vary your types of exercise, you hit all the muscle groups and you reduce your risk of injury. Sure, yoga might be your speed, but it’s a good idea to get cardio and strength training in there too. And, this is true regardless of your fitness goals!
Come up with some routine that ensures you get a true full-body workout throughout the week. Not only is it better for you, but it’ll keep you from getting bored. If you are looking forward to switching up your exercises, you’re less likely to skip a day and break your habits.
Rule Four: Utilize a program or coach.
If one of the biggest barriers to your physical health is a busy schedule, the last thing you want to do is read ALL the internet material on exercise and fitness. It’s way too overwhelming! So, instead of trying to find the answers on your own, get someone or something in your corner that does that for you.
Doing random moves here and there probably won’t get you to your goal. Instead, rely on a proven workout program OR, even better, hire a fitness coach. This way, the exercises are specifically catered to you AND you get regular support. You can join me for a free session to hear what it’s all about.
Rule Five: Remember that 5 minutes matters!
It doesn’t matter if you’re busy, you overslept, or you're sick. DON’T SKIP DAILY MOVEMENT. Even working out for five minutes is more than what you were doing before. Even that is inching you closer to your goal. It’s still progress, even if it’s not big strides.
Stick with it, and do what you can. Try to stay on your overall path, but compromising is allowed here. And, we’ll celebrate every achievement, no matter how small. I know the power of 5 minutes, and I know how important it is to make exercising a daily habit more than anything else!
